This past weekend we had a last-minute yard sale to help fund our West Coast tour this summer. We made enough to cover our t-shirts and then some. So we are quite happy about that. We will be doing a BBQ fundraiser soon. And perhaps a silent art auction. We'll keep you posted and we would appreciate any help or donations for these fundraising events. i've been busy working booking the tour which is a lot of e-mailing and researching. Findig the right bands for us to play with, and someone who will give us a chance. We are excited to be able to tour the west coast and we are thankful that our friend Phanie of Girl in a Coma referred us to some contacts in the Cali area and we will be playing a couple of dates with them on the way back from California. We don't know a lot about touring but we are going to learn quick. One thing that I noticed is that every decent band in the West Coast has a publicist and a booking agent or at least a publicist. Very different from the bands from S.A. I don't know if that's a good thing or not? In a way I guess it shows that maybe bands in our scene are doing it for the love of the music and don't really care about being the next big thing. But at the same time it's important to have those things in place if you want to make this into a career, which we do. Among other things, we still do everything else ourselves I would say that never gets any easier. I don't think anything as a musician gets easier. It's hard work. I'm wishing we could be on the road sometime soon and much more often....hmm would we be ready, is anyone ever?

Ledaswan loves SXSW

>> Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Ledaswan played 3 shows around 6th St during SXSW. We met a lot of people, got very little sleep and had way too much fun. Here are some clips from our trip. Walking through the streets of Austin, playing Spill on Sixth, Treasure Island, and hanging out at the Cedar Door. There is beer involved, warning in case that's not your things. If it's not, then SXSW is not for you.

Ledaswan@The Warhol

>> Monday, March 16, 2009

Thank you to everyone who came to the show at The Warhol this last Friday. It was a day to remember a good friend. Jason Sandbach would have turned 32 that day. We saw videos, pictures and told many stories. We also had his favorite friend rice courtesy of his Mom who wanted everyone to share in his favorite food. We also had some great music that night. Eyez Low featuring Hip Rock Hustlaz did a great job. Ledaswan came on after midnight and play till about 1:30am. This was Jackee's first show with us on bass and we definitely felt her presence on stage. We cannot wait for the shows in Austin. A big thank you to Brandon at The Warhol. He really take care of everything that night. Thank you again, and we hope to see you soon.

Don't Skip a Beat

>> Monday, March 9, 2009

Our show last Friday night was an amazing show, we played several new songs and it was great to see people I knew out there and getting new people at the bar to stop dead in their tracks and pay attention to us. It was also our last show with bassist Amanda Flores, she was with Ledaswan for at least 4 years. It was a good farewell show for her. And although it seems she's leaving at a time that the band is getting ready to take some important steps. It's always for the better of the band and individual members in the band as it seems we all now are on the same page of working towards a common goal, and not waiting for someone to jump on board. It also means new opportunities for our music. We are getting ready to play a few important showcases at one of the world's biggest and most important music conferences....SXSW and we are definitley looking forward to playing to an industry saturated type of crowd. At the same time it's a bit scary but it's never felt so natural. I feel at this point we are ready to take things to the next level. I'm so happy that our friend Jackee of San Antonio based all girl punk band Heather Go Psycho is helping to fill in on bass for these shows. She's a fast learner and she has an amazing voice. I'm happy to be playing with her. She bring a humerous and outgoing personality and it's a lot of fun to rehearse again. Something that I guess had been missing. It feels good to not skip a bit at times like this. Just another test.

Recroding Removed Drum Tracks

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

Ok this is my first blog and just so you so you me and spelling don't get along very well.Couple of weeks ago I did drum tracks for a song that is a cover of sorts if you will called removed that was done by Jason which was a front man for drug honey and FIN. What was really unquie about the way i did the drums track for this was the fact that I played along with the orginal verson of the song.Normally I would do the drum tracks with a click and scratch tracks. What i liked most about about doing this was that I felt like I was haveing the honer of doing tacks for a great front man which I have to say I never really had the chance to meet cause I Joined ledaswan just as fin was have troubles and then he went away for the army and well you know the rest. While i was doing the recording of the tracks in a way i felt moved while i was recording cause now i really understand that he was one hell of a singer.I just hope that the people that know the song as it was likes it just as much as the way we are doing it "know what i mean"sorry inside joke :) .

Ledaswan starts tracking bass

>> Tuesday, January 20, 2009

We have 4 drums tracks in the bag for the new Ledaswan record and last night we started tracking the bass. We got 2 songs down, "Faulkner" and "What a way to Drown". The other 2 songs, "56 Chevy" and "Six is Better" will be done on Wednesday, which means that we will most likely start tracking guitars for those 4 songs this weekend.
Amanda was very cool under all the picking that David and I did on every part of her track. "Hmmm, that note isn't played with enough intensity." or "did you accidentally hit another note under that note? Something sounds weird." A lot of "Just do this whole part over again".

But overall the tracks sound way better for it. We will have some footage of Amanda cutting bass up real soon.

>> Monday, January 19, 2009

We debuted a new song last night. It's tentatively titled "Class of 88", for no reason in particular. Just the beats per minute it is. Playing new songs is always exciting for us. here is a clip from last night's performance. Expect this to make it to the new album. Special thanks to Damien Cortez for filming it.

We have started the new record.

>> Tuesday, January 13, 2009

We have no title for the new record yet. We haven't even thought about it much. But we do know it's going to have some great songs and it will be a full length. We have been writing a lot lately. Lot of new songs have come from just jamming and putting parts together on the spot. lots of mistakes have made it into the songs. That's partly the whole excitement of writing this way. Things seem to happen. Like "magic".
So we started laying down drum tracks this last weekend. We started off with laying down 4 songs. On our last 2 EPs, we just had Delrick go in and cut all his drum tracks (7 each time) in about 4 to 5 hours. Friday, we went in and just got drum sounds. For about 6 hrs, we just hit drums, recorded them, adjusted mics, retuned them. Till it all seemed to come together to sound like a solid booming beackbeat we wanted to hear.

Saturday, we started the real recording. Only after, we hit one drum for 2 hrs before recording anything. We repositioned and moved that around till we were happy. We got 2 drum tracks down that day. "Faulkner" and "56 Chevy".

Sunday, we went back and cut "Six is Better" and "What a way to Drown". I really feel this is the best that Delrick has ever played. He rewrote a lot of parts while we were recording.

While we were in there, I played Delrick a piece of music I had made with some loops and weird sounds. He immediately jumped on the drums and told me to roll tape, adding his own drums to the mix. We added some huge backing drums as well. Late Sunday night, David and I pulled out the guitars and colored the rest of the song. I don't know what is going to become of this song as of now, but I can tell you it sounds like nothing we've done, but is pretty amazing. I'm excited to see what comes up of it.

We shot a lot of video, that we will put up soon. So, we seem to have a lot of work to do now. We will complete these 4 songs and get to work on recording the rest of the songs as we finish them. This is a very exciting time for us. We hope to see everyone come out to the shows and see what we have been up to. We have a great show this Saturday, Jan 17th at Scout Bar. Also on the bill will be Sandoz and Heather Go Psycho. Show starts at 10pm. Ledaswan goes on at 12am.
